International Education Outside U.S. Institutions

International Education Outside U.S. Institutions

Question: If I have completed education outside the U.S. (other than a study abroad program through a U.S. institution), how should I answer this question?

Answer: If you have completed any portion of your education in an institution located outside the United States, and it was not part of a study abroad program administered by a U.S. institution, then you should answer "Yes" to this question.

This typically applies to:

  • Degrees (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) earned from universities outside the U.S.
  • Courses or certifications completed directly at foreign educational institutions.

Answering "Yes" will generally trigger the requirement for foreign credential evaluation by a recognized agency (like WES, ECE, or similar) to determine the U.S. equivalency of your international education.
